1. Raise PHP and Joomla Version Requirement

- Minimum PHP version now is PHP 7.4.0
- Minimum Joomla version requirement is now 4.2.0 (better uses latest Joomla 4.4.x if you are using Joomla 4)

2. Code Clean Up

In earlier version of Helpdesk Pro, we have to maintain old code to support Joomla 3. From this version, we drop support for Joomla 3, so we spent time to clean up code to use latest Joomla API, remove the code which is needed to have the extension works well with Joomla 3.

Also, support for Twitter Bootstrap 2 and Twitter Bootstrap 3, Twitter Bootstrap 4 was removed because on Joomla 4 and Joomla 5, most customers are using Twitter Bootstrap 5 and UIKIT 3 (from Yootheme).

3. Convert Helpdesk Pro Plugins To New Structure

Joomla 4 introduces new plugin structure which make it faster for plugins to run. As we dropped support for Joomla3, we could convert all plugins in the extension to use new structure, result in cleaner code and performance improvement.
1. Allow select hiding any columns on any list items screen

We integrated table columns script for all list views (like categories management, tickets management, custom fields management...). With this feature, you can choose to hide any fields from the screen.

2. Improve Pre-defined Replies Feature

Allow assign pre-defined reply to all or one of the specific category instead of all categories at the moment.

3. Implemented Email Logs

Allow you to turn on email logs. That would help you to monitor emails sent from the system if needed (especially when you want to troubleshot if certain email is sent from the system)

4. Improved Plugins Code

Moved plugin layouts to separate files to allow customizing plugin output using override if needed

5. General Code Implement

Continue replacing deprecated code (from Joomla API) to it's recommended replacement to modernize code and make sure the extension continue working well with future releases of Joomla.
1. Allow Deleting Attachments
This feature allows customers/staffs delete attachments uploaded by themself if needed. For admin and managers, they can delete attachments from the tickets which they are allowed to manage

2. Re-organize attachments
From this version, attachments will be re-organized into sub-folders. Each sub-folder stores attachments uploaded in the same months. This helps avoiding too many attachments store in same folder which could reach limit and impact performance

3. Improve Emails Notification
We process and parse BBCode (if use) in comment and in ticket messages before sending email so that these content look more clear in email

4. Allow Changing Ticket Owner
Sometime, you might want to change the user associated to a support ticket. This is now doable when you edit ticket from administrator area of your site

5. Code Improvement
Replace some deprecated Joomla API calls with the new API calls, that will help make sure the extension will continue working with future Joomla releases
1. Compatible with Joomla 5.0

Joomla 5 is planned to be released in the next few days. We did final testing and make sure Helpdesk Pro compatible with Joomla 5.0 native (without requiring backward compatible plugin)

2. Improve Pre-defined Replies Integration

The pre-defined replies feature is now also working even if you enable HTML editor for submitting tickets/ adding comments.

3. Allow Translating Menu Item Types

The menu item types (which are being displayed when you create menu item link to the extension) is hard coded to English language before. Now, if you want to translate it to make it easier for your customers, it is possible by translating language items in system language files.

Please upgrade your site to this latest version of Helpdesk Pro to have these small improvements and also to make sure the extension works well with Joomla 5 when you update to that Joomla releases in the future. Thanks for continue using our products and support our development.

1. Improve Tickets Searching

- Added two config options (which are off by default) to allow searching for tickets base on comments or custom fields: Enable Search On Comments and Enable Search On Custom Fields.

2. Improve Attachments Handling


Prevent submitting ticket/comment while attachments (in case it is large or there are multiple attachments) are still being uploaded. That's to make sure attachment for ticket/comments are not lost.

3. Added option to disable keyboard shortcuts

The extension allows you to use some keyboard shortcut to allow quickly add comment to ticket using CTRL + S, CTRL + Q (was CTRL + D before), CTRL + X . If you don't want to use this option, set Use Keyboard Shortcuts config option to No

4. Some override improvements
- Allow overriding logic of sending email
- Allow overriding search logic

5. And some small bugs fixes
