I found NodeBB which is a free, open source forum platform. It has a lot of server requirements, but seems really cool! It needs ngnix. I use apache. I'm assuming it won't work with that?

I don't understand. What can nginx do that apache httpd cannot?
I was told that Apache actually runs on top of nginx, and you can select which one to use in PHP settings. At least I can. I run Ubunto 20.04 with Plesk Obsidian and PHP 7.4.28.

Tha's kinda the opposite of what happens.
Apache httpd runs as a web server and ngingx runs as a reverse proxy.

I've tried this script. It is hard to setup and a bit simplistic for me. Completely free, yes....
